Although we support the use of renewable energies, the reality is that high-growth renewables remain a sporadic resource that cannot deliver consistent and reliable results. Not only can fossil fuels replace the uneconomical use of coal and nuclear power, it also operates steadily even when the wind doesn’t blow, when the sun doesn’t shine. Thus, instead of chants of ridding oil, we believe it is vital to stay grounded when discussing energy policies.
Our lives heavily rely upon the use of petroleum and its byproducts. Take a look in our cupboard, on our table top, into our dressers – our cups and vitamin capsules, our toothpaste and TVs, our pants and shirts are all made in part by petroleum.
